Meet Our Instructors
Director Kathleen Henry
Kathleen Henry has many years of experience teaching children and adults of all ages in dance and acting. She has taught for San Jose Ballet, Contemporary Dancers Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Santa Cruz Ballet, Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and Ballet Arts Centre. Her directing credits are extensive and have mainly focused on children's theatre and dance. She has directed and choreographed theatre productions and ballets in Winnipeg and in California including children's television and film. Kathleen served as the artistic director for Santa Cruz Performing Arts Alliance working with Shakespeare Santa Cruz. Kathleen studied her dance training with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Contemporary Dancers, York University, and with Kristine Elliot (Former Soloist with American Ballet Theatre). Kathleen also holds a degree in Theatre and Film from the University of Winnipeg.
Instructor Taylor Gregory
Taylor was born in Winnipeg and has been studying musical theatre for the past ten years. Musical theatre has always been something that Taylor holds close to her heart and she has been singing and dancing ever since she was four years old. At thirteen years old, Taylor joined Winnipeg's Junior Musical Theatre Company and performed with the company for five years. During this time she had the opportunity to be involved in countless productions, including a locally written musical that was performed in New York City. Taylor recently graduated from the Faculty of Education at the University of Winnipeg with her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre in both the Acting stream and in Drama in Education. This Spring, Taylor was selected to teach IB Theatre at ACS Athens International School in Greece. Taylor has also taught musical theatre at Manitoba Theatre for Young People and Rady Jewish Community Centre and she loves being able to share her passion for musical theatre with her students.
Instructor Wesley Giesbrecht
Wesley has been studying ballroom dancing for more than ten years and has been dancing and studying Argentine tango for the past twenty years. Wesley taught Tango through Patricia's Dance for ten years and is currently teaching Tango at Theatre Dance Centre. Wesley is a very skilled and talented instructor with extensive dance training who loves to share his passion for dance.
Instructor Jenna Zimmer
Jenna is a third year arts student at the University of Manitoba and has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She started taking dance classes at the age of four and continues to study and train in various dance styles to further her dance education. She has trained extensively in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop and lyrical and has attended many dance conventions and competitions within Winnipeg. Jenna started teaching Theatre Dance Centre when it first opened in 2014. She loves to share her passion with others and believes that it is never too late to start dancing - with hard work, nothing is impossible!
Instructor Maggie Dalke
Maggie has been involved in theatre and musical theatre since she was fourteen years old and she has always loved performing. She joined the Theatre Dance Centre team as a Teacher Assistant with our musical production of "Into the Woods" (2015) and has since helped out with our productions of "Peter Pan"(2016), "The Princess and the Pea" (2016), and "Alice In Wonderland Jr." (2017). She is also co-directing this years summer production of "Cinderella." She recently graduated with her degree in Theatre and Film from the University of Winnipeg this year and loves being able to share her skills and passion for performing.
Instructor Mara Turenne
Mara has been training in tap, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, and ballet since she was 5 years old. She has won numerous scholarships through Dance Manitoba at the Manitoba Provincial Dance Festival and Triple Threat Dance Convention. She has been with Theatre Dance Centre for 2 years and has been in the productions of Into The Woods jr. and Alice in Wonderland jr. She is very excited to share her passion and inspire others through her dancing!
Teacher Assistant Alexandra Wittering
Alexandra has been with Theatre Dance Centre for the past year as a teaching assistant. Last summer she assisted with the musical theatre class and also helped out with our production of "Princess and the Pea" (2016). This year, Alex joined us again to help out with our production of "Alice In Wonderland Jr." as a stagehand and sound manager and was very involved with our year end ballet performance "The Velveteen Rabbit."
